Even the most valuable tool in your toolbox is no good if it isn’t within reach when you need it. Leatherman’s Tread bracelet lets you carry around 25 tools on your wrist no matter where you are or what you’re doing.

The Tread bracelet looks like a stylish wristband, but each of the 11 interchangeable links are useful tools. Each link serves a purpose, and because the multi-tool is made of strong 17-4 stainless steel they’re strong enough to get all of your important jobs done.

The list of tools included is actually kind of bonkers: a cutting hook, a bottle opener, an oxygen tank wrench, a carbide glass breaker, several sizes of flat and Phillips screwdrivers, box wrenches and hex drives, a socket drive, and a pick/SIM card ejector tool.

Unlike other multi-tools, the Tread – according to Leatherman – is safe for airline travel. Although some of the tools are a bit pointy, they’re all too small to cause any real damage if you decided to use them as weapons.

It’s hard to ignore that the Tread looks a lot like a metal link watch band, and Leatherman noticed that, too. They plan to release a version of the Tread with an integrated watch, making the tool even more useful and multi-functional.

In the Back to the Future movies, manipulating time is challenging, but not impossible. The ability to do it all hinges on the flux capacitor, the core component of Doc Brown’s time traveling technology. ThinkGeek is making it possible to wear that technology on your person at all times – kind of.

The Back to the Future Flux Capacitor Wristwatch is a scale replica of Doc Brown’s invention that doesn’t necessarily control time, but it will help you keep track of it. The stainless steel casing features a Y-shaped blinking apparatus that displays the time with a series of lights.

Although it looks confusing at first, the lights flash in a pattern that makes it relatively easy to tell the time. The time circuit LCD shows you the current date – but if you want to escape, you can press a button to activate “Time Travel Mode.” In this mode, the time circuit displays a random date so you can pretend that you’ve escaped to some other point in the time-space continuum. At $50, it’ll cost you far less than building your own DeLorian version.

What if you never had to decide on a wristwatch design again? Japanese startup Fashion Entertainments teamed up with TAKT Project to produce the FES Watch, a timepiece that changes its appearance as often as you like.

Made with electronic paper, the FES Watch starts out looking completely blank, face and all. The watch’s face and wristband design only appear when you bring your arm up in the classic “checking the time” posture.

Touching the watch’s body changes the design of the face and strap. There are 24 pre-programmed designs that appear out of nowhere and then fade away, essentially creating a new watch each time.

The stated goal of Fashion Entertainments is to create new ways to enjoy digitized fashion. This watch creates a feeling of fluidity and motion that adapts to the wearer’s style rather than requiring the wearer to change accessories to match the outfit of the day.

Portland, Oregon-based studio Grovemade has been designing gorgeous wooden accessories for Apple products for years, but they are now moving away from their signature pieces by introducing a lovely wooden wristwatch. The Wood Watch features an exceptional modern design with a minimal wooden face and circular hands that traverse the watch’s perimeter beneath the face.

The watch was designed in collaboration with Stefan Andren, a seasoned watch designer who put great care into every facet of the design. The same care is taken with the watch’s manufacturing process; the metal backing is machined in Oregon and the wooden elements are sanded and oiled by hand.

Although it may seem unusual for a company who made their name selling Apple accessories to introduce an analog watch, Grovemade wanted to create a more tactile design that would give wearers a tangible idea of where they are in their day. The designers understand that we all have the exact time on our phones or tablets, available at any time. The Wood Watch provides an elegant, physical way to keep track of the time.

Available in East Hardrock Maple or Black Walnut, circular or square dial, and leather or silicone strap, the Wood Watch offers options to fit plenty of tastes. The watch will retail for $239 and will be available in late 2014/early 2015.

We miss giant arcade machines. Playing games on iPhones is alright, but it doesn’t have the immersive thrill of burying your face in a screen, manipulating the joystick, mashing buttons and being deafened by various beeps and buzzes. ThinkGeek must feel the same way, because they’re introducing a tiny arcade machine you can wear on your wrist.

The Classic Arcade Wristwatch is an itty-bitty version of a Galactic Defenders arcade game. Although it doesn’t function as an arcade game, it definitely functions as a watch. The joystick doesn’t do anything, but the red button lights up the watch’s display with red lights and makes an awesome “PEW!” sound.

The face of the watch is definitely the best part. Instead of second, minute, and hour hands, the watch sports space rocks in place of the hour and minute hands, and a spaceship in place of the seconds hand. Normally we’d make a joke here about watching time fly, but we’re too busy scrounging up $50 in sofa change to buy one.
