Some cyclists seem obsessed with riding higher and higher, and for those who enjoy the creative genius behind those bigger bikes, this film gives viewers a window into the world of their creation and use.

This extended teaser enters the world of the Zenga Bros of Vancouver who were taught to be creative at a young age and follow a lifestyle with three intersecting tenets called the “Three Beans: Create Everywhere, Redeem Everything, and Be a Fool.”

Discovering super-tall bikes back in the early 1990s, they became obsessed and started making their own wild versions, then documenting the works of others through photography and film.

As the video and images illustrate, it is not just about getting up above the fray, but in some cases can be a way to pack two people onto an odd-shaped cycle, or stack multiple bikes to create some kind of monstrous hybrid.

The film’s trailer premiered as part of the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Professional bicycle racer Johan Le Bon has been co-developed a strange single-speed city street cycle that pivots in the middle of the frame, allowing the back wheel to twist and swerve in ways that, at a glance, make it look like it is about to fall apart.

Created with two his friends in Brittany, France (Alban Haloche and Alexis Honoré), the project has been nicknamed the “Trocadero” and lets riders steer with their hips. The result: users can turn in ultra-tight circles and slalom urban street obstacles with ease.

Its makers claim it only takes a few minutes to get used to and a few more to master its use. For riders wanting to switch back to ‘regular’ mode, a simple pin inserts to turn it back into a normal fixed-gear affair.

Thanks to the bicycle’s viral popularity, the creators are making a limited run of 30 vehicles for now to see how serious outside interest really is. It remains to be seen if this is a one-off quirky invention or a serious next step in the future of cycling.

While some people wrap their cars in bright new colors or flashy custom designs, this creative solution lets you downplay the quality and condition of your vehicle, concealing it under layers of dripping red rust. A bit of hard work and careful planning and voila, a brand new Volkswagon T5 Sportline is suddenly an aging van on its last legs (or wheels).

The simulated wear and tear featured on this sticker set was designed by Clyde Wraps, a company with a wide array of more conventional vehicle covering solutions (not just faux junkers). The client was apparently quite pleased, despite being stopped by cops just a few days later.

A clever combination of guerilla marketing and urban defense, this modified vehicle’s surface will hopefully attract the right kind of attention – gawkers looking to verify its authenticity by day rather than thieves peaking in by night.

From Clyde: “We were delighted when a customer came in and asked our in house designer to create one-off rust artwork that made his brand new top-of-the-range Volkswagen T5 Transporter Sportline look like the paint had rust all over. Taking exact measurements of the entire van over and above the blueprints we already held ensured rust could look like it had ran from door frames, handles, badges and mirrors as well as adding extra fake metal panels that look like they are riveted onto the smooth new van. The more distressed we made it look – the better the end result of the rust!”

It is one thing to make something like Steampunk in style, but to actually drive that device using steam power takes an entirely higher-order level of commitment and engineering.

Revatu Customs is the Dutch motorocycle shop behind the Black Pearl, this unique steam-driven creation named after Jack Sparrow’s pirate ship.

The rear wheel of the vehicle is driven by a large crankshaft – unfortunately, the power source is also the limitation of the entire operation: the bike only has a top speed of around five miles per hour. Still, for a relaxing trip through town sure to draw attention, it would definitely be a lot of fun to ride.

Having already conquered space, American business adventurer Elon Musk has his sights set on the sea. He recently bought the undersea vehicle from the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, a Lotus with wings added for faux aquatic travel. Although merely a prop, Musk plans to add what’s necessary to make it a functional subaquatic vessel.

Famous for founding electric vehicle company Tesla Motors and space travel company SpaceX, Musk is no stranger to exploratory adventures. He plans on adding a Tesla drivetrain to the white Esprit. Inspiration hit when he learned that, after dropping nearly $1 million on the prop, it didn’t actually perform as it does in the film. If successfully launched, we predict he’ll wear a tuxedo and, although the original was piloted by Roger Moore, do a bad Sean Connery impression.
