<p>Sometimes you want to listen to something based on style or era, but for those who want their music to keep pace with their mood or activity, this tempo-gauging gadget lets you select for speed.</p>
<!--YouTube Error: bad URL entered-->
<p>Designed by Gemma Roper, Radio Activity picks out tracks from Spotify based on beats-per-minute metrics, adjusting as you move the circular dial up and down a metronome-style pole.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29996" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/tempo-in-pieces-468x294.jpg" alt="tempo in pieces" width="468" height="294" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29998" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/tempo-tuner-parts-468x309.jpg" alt="tempo tuner parts" width="468" height="309" /></p>
<p>&#8220;I wrote several iterations of code using a combination of programs that would allow me to access Spotify libraries, read song BPM and then translate vertical movement into data that would select correlating paced songs,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29999" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/tempo-guage-468x468.jpg" alt="tempo guage" width="468" height="468" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/tempo-guage.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/tempo-guage-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>While the feat could be accomplished without using a physical device, having the object on hand makes things more intuitive and adds an element of interactivity for guests and visitors as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29997" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/tempo-device-design-468x384.jpg" alt="tempo device design" width="468" height="384" /></p>
<p>&#8220;The internal component composition is incredibly complicated, as the electrical current needed to be carried throughout the length of the rail on small brass tracks that are connected to tiny switches inside the dial all the way to an Arduino Micro in the marble base,&#8221; Roper explained.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/radio-activity-device-selects-music-by-desired-tempo/">Radio Activity: Device Selects Music By Desired Tempo</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Watch as LG reps curve and bend screens ranging from tiny to huge, sticking TVs to walls with magnets and contorting mobile displays well past what one expects to be their breaking point. The screens use thin-film transistor back planes to individually activate pixels on the screen, adding virtually no thickness to the construction.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29812" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/thinled-468x263.gif" alt="thinled" width="468" height="263" /></p>
<p>Next time you go to a friend&#8217;s house to watch a game, consider this: you may soon be able to roll up your big-screen television (or monitor), bring it along and attach it to their wall. The company is also developing batteries that bend &#8211; combining the technology could prove incredibly powerful for wearables and other portable devices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29813" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/curved-led-panel-468x447.jpg" alt="curved led panel" width="468" height="447" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/curved-led-panel-468x447.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/curved-led-panel.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>LG also hit the news recently with their release of the world&#8217;s largest OLED panel screen (shown above), on display at the airport in Seoul, South Korea &#8211; the total display is made up of 140 curved pans, spanning 40 feet high and 25 feet across. According to Park Wan-su, president and CEO at Incheon International Airport, “These OLED displays perfectly complement the advanced technology that our airport has become known for. We are always eager to showcase to the millions of travelers every year the cutting-edge technology that originates from Korea. OLED is a prime example of that.”</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/bendable-screens-flexible-paper-thin-phone-tv-displays/">Bendable Screens: Flexible Paper-Thin Phone & TV Displays</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Everything old is new again. Haven&#8217;t old people been saying that for decades? We&#8217;re seeing increasing numbers of people carrying around Discmans and Walkmans for their retro kitsch value. Designers Rocket &#038; Wine are playing on our weird obsession with obsolete technology with their <a href="http://www.rocketandwink.com/work/4466773/rawman_3000_portable_vinyl_players">Rawman 3000</a> concept.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-wearable-record-players.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-wearable-record-players-468x468.jpg" alt="portable wearable record players" width="468" height="468" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29571" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-wearable-record-players-468x468.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-wearable-record-players-150x150.jpg 150w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-wearable-record-players.jpg 750w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-vinyl-players.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-vinyl-players-468x468.jpg" alt="portable vinyl players" width="468" height="468" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29572" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-vinyl-players-468x468.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-vinyl-players-150x150.jpg 150w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/portable-vinyl-players.jpg 750w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p>Given the resurgence of portable CD and cassette players, Rocket &#038; Wine designed three sizes of portable vinyl players. The 7&#8243;, 10&#8243;, and 12&#8243; models are meant to be carried around so you can enjoy the rich, deep sounds of vinyl while you strut down the street. Along, we assume, with all of the skips and scratches that come with moving a record player around while it&#8217;s playing.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rawman-3000.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rawman-3000-468x300.jpg" alt="rawman 3000" width="468" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29578" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rawman-3000-468x300.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rawman-3000.jpg 750w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rawman-3000.gif"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rawman-3000.gif" alt="rawman 3000" width="468" height="300" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-29574" /></a></p>
<p>The Rawman, if it were in fact a real product, would come with stereo headphones, a USB port, Smartcard, an antenna to enable Bluetooth connection, and a carrying strap. When it&#8217;s not being carried around, making you look like the hipsterest hipster ever, it could be plugged into home speakers for a &#8220;big, rich sound, that [&#8230;] only can be compared to a very elaborate and expensive component stereo record player system.&#8221; </p>

<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rocket-and-wink-portable-record-players.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rocket-and-wink-portable-record-players-468x468.jpg" alt="rocket and wink portable record players" width="468" height="468" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29576" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rocket-and-wink-portable-record-players-468x468.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rocket-and-wink-portable-record-players-150x150.jpg 150w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rocket-and-wink-portable-record-players.jpg 750w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p>Although the product is a spoof and will most likely never see production, we can absolutely see someone trying to make this happen. After all, if people are enamored with the inferior sound quality and breakage-prone qualities of the cassette, why not strap on a record player to go for a jog?</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/time-warp-accessories-wearable-portable-vinyl-players/">Time Warp Accessories: Wearable Portable Vinyl Players</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Biking or walking in urban environments with headphones on or earplugs in can be dangerous, while open speaker systems drain batteries and lack sound quality, making these hybrid bone conduction headphones better than the best of both worlds.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29336" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-audio-mechanism-468x234.jpg" alt="bone conduction audio mechanism" width="468" height="234" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-audio-mechanism-468x234.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-audio-mechanism-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-audio-mechanism.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The <a href="http://aftershokz.com/collections/wireless/products/bluez-2s" target="_blank">AfterShokz&#8217;s Bluez 2S</a> bypasses your eardrum, delivering sound to your inner ear through bone vibrations. Lightweight and worn around rather than over your ears, they provide a distraction-free way to listen to audio while moving through busy city streets.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29337" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-pad-468x296.jpg" alt="bone conduction side pad" width="468" height="296" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-pad-468x296.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-pad-1024x648.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-pad.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Designed to be robust and resist the effects of dust, sweat, heat and cold, they are made to be a year-round solution for audiophiles who need music or podcasts to keep them company through daily commutes. They also have soft, cheek-friendly pads to keep from becoming irritating over long walks or rides. As they are not headphones, they also skirt laws in some cities which prohibit ear-occupying devices for reasons of public and personal safety.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29335" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-by-sad-468x272.jpg" alt="bone conduction side by sad" width="468" height="272" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-by-sad-468x272.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-by-sad-1024x596.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/bone-conduction-side-by-sad.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Author <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2015/09/25/aftershokz-bluez-2s-bone-conduction-headphones/">Jon Turi</a> provides some feedback on the differences in sound to be expected from this alternative audio delivery mechanism: <em>&#8220;So how do they sound? First, you need to understand that this is an entirely different experience than regular headphones, with its own set of trade-offs. Music will sound a bit different with this type of technology. The overall sound may be a bit duller compared to your standard cans, but you&#8217;ll also get a pleasantly spacious head-feel when listening, which is hard to convey. Speech comes across clearly, but the low-end will be lacking in comparison. I frequently have the volume near maximum when I&#8217;m hustling on bustling city streets and feeling the music. In quieter environments, however, there&#8217;s more headroom in volume flexibility. The claim is that PremiumPitch+ helps increase bass, while dampening vibration and reducing sound leakage. The Bluez 2S may not be the loudest pair I&#8217;ve listened too &#8212; Damson&#8217;s Headbones still hold that title &#8212; but they provide plenty of kick without going overboard on the vibration.&#8221;</em></p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/bone-conduction-headphones-walk-cycle-safely-in-cities/">Bone Conduction Headphones: Walk & Cycle Safely in Cities</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-helix-bluetooth-earbuds.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-29170" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-helix-bluetooth-earbuds.png" alt="wearable helix bluetooth earbuds" width="468" height="468" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-helix-bluetooth-earbuds.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-helix-bluetooth-earbuds-150x150.png 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve ever reached into your pocket or bag to grab your earbuds and come up with a handful of hopelessly tangled cord, you know the struggle. There are cases to hold them, but if you&#8217;re anything like us, you lose those pretty quickly. The designers behind <a href="http://www.ashleychloe.com/">Helix</a> want to help you keep your earbuds nearby and tangle-free.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-wearable-earbuds.gif"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-29166" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-wearable-earbuds.gif" alt="helix wearable earbuds" width="468" height="283" /></a></p>
<p>In the process, they&#8217;ve created a fashion accessory that effectively hides the technological prize inside. The wristband, which comes in a variety of main color/accent color combinations, opens up to reveal a pair of Bluetooth earbuds. With a couple of swift movements you release the earbuds from their storage spot, turn them on, and jam them in your ear-holes.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-bluetooth-earbud-wristband.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-29167 size-medium" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-bluetooth-earbud-wristband-468x293.png" alt="helix bluetooth earbud wristband" width="468" height="293" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-bluetooth-earbud-wristband-468x293.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-bluetooth-earbud-wristband.png 680w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p>According to a study that the designers cite, people spend about four hours a day listening to headphones (not true for us in particular because we like to obnoxiously blast our music from our computer speakers, but whatever). As the Helix is still in the design refinement stages, there aren&#8217;t any customer testimonials about how comfortable the earbuds are over long periods.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-wearable-cuff-bluetooth-earbud-storage.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-29168 size-medium" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-wearable-cuff-bluetooth-earbud-storage-468x263.jpg" alt="helix wearable cuff bluetooth earbud storage" width="468" height="263" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-wearable-cuff-bluetooth-earbud-storage-468x263.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/helix-wearable-cuff-bluetooth-earbud-storage.jpg 950w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p>The designers seem to have focused a lot more on the design of the wristband rather than on that of the earbuds themselves, which is a little troubling. The Bluetooth control unit hangs down a bit under the chin, vaguely bringing to mind the little string that holds a kid&#8217;s cowboy hat on. Still, the wristband IS very stylish and looks like it could be easily integrated into any wardrobe for any gender.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-bluetooth-earbuds.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-29169 size-medium" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-bluetooth-earbuds-468x312.png" alt="wearable bluetooth earbuds" width="468" height="312" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-bluetooth-earbuds-468x312.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/wearable-bluetooth-earbuds.png 680w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></a></p>
<p>At the time of publication, the project&#8217;s <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1889846331/helix-wearable-cuff-with-stereo-bluetooth-headphon">Kickstarter campaign</a> has raised more than double its initial funding goal. When/if the Helix makes it to retail markets, it will retail for $199. For that price, the sound quality had better be totally amazing. The last thing we need is another expensive wearable that we give up on after a few weeks because it proves to be pretty, but not exactly a powerhouse in the functionality department.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/wrap-music-this-wrist-cuff-holds-your-earbuds-for-you/">Wrap Music: This Wrist Cuff Holds Your Earbuds For You</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>
