<p><!--wsa:gooold-->In our greener future, it looks like we will all need to opt for smaller, more energy-efficient transportation. Most designers have been rising to that call by thinking up tiny electric cars &#8211; but some are going in a different direction.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10047" title="solowheel-1" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-1.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="197" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-1.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-1-300x126.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.inventist.com/solowheel/">Solowheel</a> is an almost-ridiculously tiny single wheel urban transport gadget that acts like a self-righting unicycle without pedals. A rider has simply to step on and stand up while the Solowheel moves toward a destination.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="468" height="293" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WOOoFEKiK8A?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /></object></p>
<p>Like the Segway, the Solowheel is operated largely by the distribution of the rider&#8217;s body weight. Lean forward to go faster, lean back to slow down and lean left or right to turn.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10046" title="solowheel-3" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-3.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="348" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-3.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-3-300x223.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The tiny unicycle is totally battery-operated and can run for about two hours on a charge. When you slow down or roll downhill, the battery actually recaptures energy. The whole assembly weighs a tiny 20 pounds and even includes an integrated handle so it can be carried around when you&#8217;re not riding on it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10045" title="solowheel-2" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-2.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="432" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-2.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/solowheel-2-300x276.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>While it&#8217;s a bit troubling to see people riding around on a single wheel with no safety gear, we&#8217;re guessing it doesn&#8217;t go fast enough to make it a truly dangerous activity.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/hot-wheel-ultra-minimalist-electric-single-wheeled-vehicle/">Hot Wheel: Ultra-Minimalist Electric Single-Wheeled Vehicle</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p><!--wsa:gooold-->In a futuristic concept that is fit for a blockbuster Hollywood movie, designer <a href="http://bbkil.blogspot.com/">Bobin Kil</a> presents this <a href="http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/12/21/electric-motorbikes-as-tires/">amazing transforming car</a>. It&#8217;s a lightweight vehicle with superior fuel economy and beautiful sleek styling, but the way it looks is the least of its awesome features. The real stand-out part of this design is the fact that the rear wheels transform into electric motor-driven unicycles.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9539" title="light-weight-2" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-2.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="331" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-2.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-2-300x212.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>After parking and removing the rear bumper of the car, the driver just has to put down a special stand to keep the car up and detach the twin motorbikes. The bikes are both equipped with Segway-like technology to keep them aloft as riders zip through urban streets.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9537" title="light-weight-3" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-3.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="331" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-3.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-3-300x212.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Is it possible? Probably so. But the question is whether it would be feasible for an affordable price. This is the problem with so many revolutionary ideas, particularly those having to do with transportation. Great ideas are often never made into reality because of cost issues.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9538" title="light-weight-4" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-4.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="331" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-4.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/light-weight-4-300x212.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>For now, the Light Weight concept remains only a concept. There are plenty of reasons to hope for it to become a reality someday, though. This highly creative car would allow drivers to use a green electric bike for normal commuting and a larger, more traditional car for longer trips or when the weather makes riding a unicycle unwise.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/split-personality-the-car-that-transforms-into-two-cycles/">Split Personality: Transforming Car Hides Twin Surprises</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>
