<p>What will the remains of our current civilization look like to future generations? The objects that we carelessly discard today will be tomorrow&#8217;s relics. Artist <a href="http://www.victorsonna.com/">Victor Sonna</a> takes those future relics and turns them into a sort of retro-futuristic (or perhaps futuristic-retro?) mix of aged components and future reuse.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-26903" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/victor-sonno-recycled-industrial-parts-bike.jpg" alt="victor sonno recycled industrial parts bike" width="468" height="312" /></p>
<h6>(all images via: <a href="http://www.designboom.com/art/victor-sonna-future-nostalgia-aged-industrial-elements-ipsum-bicycle-11-25-2014/">Designboom</a>)</h6>
<p>Sonna collects old, rusted industrial items that are no longer useful for their original intended purposes and turns them into fascinating bikes. The latest in his &#8220;Future Nostalgia&#8221; collection is a bike called Ipsum.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-26904" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/old-industrial-parts-bike.jpg" alt="old industrial parts bike" width="468" height="312" /></p>
<p>Ipsum is composed of an old rake, various bits of aged tools, and other industrial odds and ends. Each element shows its age with a unique patina of rust, flaked paint, and dents.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-26905" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/old-tools-recycled-into-bikes-victor-sonno.jpg" alt="old tools recycled into bikes victor sonno" width="468" height="312" /></p>
<p>The artist describes his work as being inspired by the strength of destruction. He uses imperfect objects to create beautiful and unconventional works that question our very idea of what can be called beautiful.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-26906" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/recycled-parts-ipsum-bike.jpg" alt="recycled parts ipsum bike" width="468" height="705" /></p>
<p>Ipsum and the other bikes in the series are welded together to make them stable and feature functional wheels, pedals and chains so they should be rideable. Imagine how much waste could be kept out of landfills if every discarded object was suddenly seen for its inherent value rather than its past life as a no-longer-useful item.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/aged-industrial-parts-become-a-retro-style-sculptural-bike/">Aged Industrial Parts Become a Retro-Style Sculptural Bike</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Although its origins lie in futuristic applications like manufacturing and prototyping, 3D printing also tends to be continually layered (pun not intended) in irony and kitsch, and LA-based design team <a href="http://www.the-sugar-lab.com/about">The Sugar Lab</a> want to capitalize on it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-21923" alt="intricate 3d printed sugar sculptures" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/intricate-3d-printed-sugar-sculptures.jpg" width="468" height="253" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-21924" alt="sugar sculptures 3d printed" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/sugar-sculptures-3d-printed.jpg" width="468" height="253" /></p>
<p>Kyle and Liz von Hasseln, husband and wife duo behind the project, make novelty 3D-printed sculptures out of sugar. Fully edible, the designs are intended to be cake toppers or table centerpieces.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-21921" alt="sugar sculpture 3d printed" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/sugar-sculpture-3d-printed.jpg" width="468" height="253" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-21922" alt="3d printed sugar heads" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/3d-printed-sugar-heads.jpg" width="468" height="468" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/3d-printed-sugar-heads.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/3d-printed-sugar-heads-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>While the heads look weird, the coral-like designs are actually very intricate and pretty. They hope to eventually add flavoring to their creations. If 3D erotic designs haven’t been done yet, somebody better jump on that idea.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/sweet-delicate-intricate-3d-sculptures-made-of-sugar/">Sweet + Delicate: Intricate 3D Sculptures Made of Sugar</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>This unbelievably awesome <a href="http://laughingsquid.com/volkswagen-imperial-at-at-walker/">Volkswagen T1 van turned Imperial AT-AT Walker</a> is just about the greatest mashup of two already-great things we have ever seen. If it actually worked as a vehicle rather than the coolest art car ever, we don&#8217;t even want to think about what we&#8217;d do to get our hands on it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-15676" title="vw at-at" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/vw-at-at.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="351" /></p>
<p>There doesn&#8217;t seem to be much information about the VW AT-AT other than it seems to be located somewhere in Europe, but that&#8217;s okay. When something is this excellent and geeky, pictures are enough.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/geekiest-art-car-in-the-galaxy-vw-at-at-imperial-walker/">Geekiest Art Car in the Galaxy: VW AT-AT Imperial Walker</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p><!--wsa:gooold-->There are not many things as intimidating as huge killer robots. A Chinese artist who calls himself &#8220;Steel Legend&#8221; (and whose real name is Yang Junlin) knows this well enough now that he has a <a href="http://www.odditycentral.com/pics/chinese-transformers-fan-builds-his-own-army-of-robots.html">whole army of Transformers</a> at his beck and call, presumably scattered all over his front yard to scare off intruders and salesmen.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10476" title="transformers-2" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-2.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="351" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-2.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-2-300x225.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10477" title="transformers-3" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-3.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="502" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-3.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-3-279x300.jpg 279w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The Transformers are all made of scrap metal bits from old cars, but don&#8217;t dare to tell them that they used to be junk. They look like they could rip your puny human limbs off with hardly any effort&#8230;if they were built with moving parts, that is.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10475" title="transformers-4" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-4.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="326" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-4.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-4-300x208.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10474" title="transformers-5" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-5.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="546" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-5.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/transformers-5-257x300.jpg 257w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Junlin is so in love with Transformers that he started his own scrap metal sculpture factory called Legend of Iron. To date, Junlin and his 10 employees have built more than 1000 scrap metal sculptures. They admit that the sculptures take a long time to create, but the crew believes the end results are worth the work. Which sounds nice until you remember that one day, these scary robots are going to overthrow the human crew and take control of the factory.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/army-of-scrap-metal-transformers-will-eat-your-soul/">Army of Scrap Metal Transformers Will Eat Your Soul</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p><!--wsa:gooold-->You can see some pretty strange things on the streets of London on any given day, but recently city commuters were treated to a whole new kind of weird sight: a <a href="http://www.newcarnet.co.uk/Chevrolet_news.html?id=11155&amp;img=1#">1.5 metric ton blue Chevrolet Orlando MPV</a> made entirely of Play-Doh. It&#8217;s the biggest Play-Doh sculpture in the world, and it&#8217;s a meticulously detailed replica of the seven-seat car.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10227" title="play-doh-toyota-2" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/play-doh-toyota-2.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="334" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/play-doh-toyota-2.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/play-doh-toyota-2-300x214.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The Play-Doh car was a promotional project to celebrate the UK release of the new car, but it was also an acknowledgement of Play-Doh&#8217;s title as the world&#8217;s most-loved toy from yesteryear. The children&#8217;s modeling clay took the title in a recent poll, garnering 19 percent of the vote.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10226" title="play-doh-toyota-3" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/play-doh-toyota-3.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="320" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/play-doh-toyota-3.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/play-doh-toyota-3-300x205.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The car has been attracting lots of attention from everyone who passes by, even the traffic wardens who seem a bit amused by the sight of the gigantic sculpture. The life-size model took eight model makers more than two weeks to complete.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/one-smurfing-ride-big-blue-suv-spotted-on-london-street/">One Smurfing Ride: Big Blue SUV Spotted on London Street</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>
