    <p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-24312" alt="finger ring nokia phone concept" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/finger-ring-nokia-phone-concept.jpg" width="468" height="306" /></p>
<p>We&#8217;ve been saying for years that cell phones would eventually get so small as to be wearable or implantable. Designer <a href="http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/03/18/on-my-fingertips/">Issam Trabelsi</a> is taking a step toward making that a reality with his concept phone that is essentially a fingertip ring that functions as a phone.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-24311" alt="nokia fit phone concept" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/nokia-fit-phone-concept.jpg" width="468" height="311" /></p>
<p>The phone, branded by the designer as Nokia FIT, is a flexible rubber and silicone device that fits over the top of the index finger. When you get a text or phone call, the FIT vibrates to alert you. Talking on the phone is as simple as holding your finger up to your ear.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-24310" alt="finger ring phone" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/finger-ring-phone.jpg" width="468" height="377" /></p>
<p>The Nokia FIT is even waterproof and can fit many different sizes of fingers. The designer&#8217;s renderings aren&#8217;t entirely forthcoming about how exactly the tiny gadget would work for texting or making calls since there doesn&#8217;t seem to be an interface of any kind. But as a Bluetooth-connected accessory, we can definitely see the FIT becoming an essential extension of future smartphones.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/tiny-phone-concept-puts-communication-at-your-fingertips/">Mini Phone Concept Puts Communication at Your Fingertips</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-22468" alt="phonebloks customizable cell phone" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/phonebloks-customizable-cell-phone.jpg" width="468" height="313" /></p>
<p>Let’s face it: Cell phones are disposable. Their lifespan is little more than a couple years, and even though there’s that <a href="http://www.meggernetworks.com/Safety/tabid/1093/Default.aspx">&#8216;do not throw away&#8217;</a> icon on the back of most of them, they still end up in garbage bins. To help divert cell phone waste, a Dutch designer has created a unique concept phone.</p>
<!--YouTube Error: bad URL entered-->
<p>Based in the Netherlands, designer Dave Hakkens created <a href="http://www.phonebloks.com/">Phonebloks</a>, an ideal concept that would give your phone a longer life cycle and near-complete customizability. Standard features like antennae, battery and storage are changeable pieces that can be switched out independent of the main frame. Resembling Legos, the individual features, rather than the entire phone, are replaceable.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-22467" alt="customizable phone phonebloks" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/customizable-phone-phonebloks.jpg" width="468" height="313" /></p>
<p>Phonebloks focuses on the individual. If you’re into photography, for example, the camera ‘blok’ is upgradable, as is the battery for those who regularly deal with files and cloud systems. Each blok is like an app, serving a specific purpose that can be added or removed. The Angry Birds blok is still unavailable.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/dutch-designer-serves-up-cell-phone-buffet-concept/">Dutch Designer Serves Up Cell Phone Buffet Concept</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    [ Filed under <a href="https://gajitz.com/meta/gadgets/phones-mobile/">Phones &amp; Mobile</a> &amp; in the <a href="https://gajitz.com/meta/gadgets/">Gadgets</a> category ]

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-20182" alt="world's tiniest phone" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/worlds-tiniest-phone.jpg" width="468" height="282" /></p>
<p>Where technology is concerned, manufacturers are always trying to shrink device components so they can squeeze more functions into the device &#8211; but this Japanese phone may take down-sizing a little too far. The <a href="http://www.willcom-inc.com/ja/corporate/press/2013/03/05/index.html">Phone Strap 2</a> is said to be the world&#8217;s smallest and lightest cell phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-20181" alt="ultra compact mobile phone" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/ultra-compact-mobile-phone.jpg" width="468" height="282" /></p>
<p>At a total height of just two inches, this phone truly is tinier than any functional cellular phone we&#8217;ve ever seen. It&#8217;s got a retractable antenna and can handle up to two hours of talk time on one charge. The Phone Strap 2 can also send and receive emails, provided they aren&#8217;t too long.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-20179" alt="frisk mints phone" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/frisk-mints-phone.jpg" width="468" height="282" /></p>
<p>The phone is precisely the size of a box of Frisk mints, a wildly popular treat in Japan. The Phone Strap 2 is available in white, black and pink &#8211; all in shades that coordinate perfectly with colors of Frisk mint boxes.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-20180" alt="phone strap 2 tiny cell phone" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/phone-strap-2-tiny-cell-phone.jpg" width="468" height="282" /></p>
<p>The ridiculously tiny one-inch &#8220;ultra compact&#8221; display seems almost too small to even be a fun novelty. But where there&#8217;s a silly new gadget there&#8217;s a whole bunch of people who can&#8217;t wait to get their hands on it. They&#8217;ll have to be fast because Willcom, the phone&#8217;s manufacturer, only plans to sell 12,000 of these babies in Japan for around $380.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/worlds-tiniest-mobile-phone-features-wee-one-inch-display/">World’s Tiniest Mobile Phone Features Wee One-Inch Display</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-17792" title="gameklip" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/gameklip.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="262" /></p>
<p>Even though there are some pretty cool handheld gaming consoles out there, it seems like most people play their games on their phones these days. But the little screens and awkward controls can make cell phone gaming pretty frustrating. The <a href="http://www.gizmag.com/gameklip-android-ps3-games/23592/">GameKlip</a> is a simple solution that makes it way easy to play games on your phone with a familiar controller.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="468" height="263" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Wiek3pgBxqk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>The device is really not much more than a piece of plastic that holds your Android phone connected to a PS3 controller. It sounds elementary, but the way it works is kind of brilliant. The controller attaches to the phone via either a wired or wireless connection and emulates touch and hardware controls for your favorite games.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-17791" title="gameklip 2" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/gameklip-2.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="351" /></p>
<p>The only downfall seems to be that the GameKlip is specific to your current phone, so whenever you upgrade to a new phone you&#8217;ll also need to upgrade your GameKlip. But at $15 for the wireless version and $23 for the wired one, that shouldn&#8217;t deter you from giving this cool gadget a try.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/ps3-controller-android-phone-plastic-connector-piece/">PS3 Controller + Android Phone + Plastic Connector Piece =</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-17036" title="1960s mobile phones" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/1960s-mobile-phones.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="325" /></p>
<p>We tend to think of mobile phones as a purely modern invention, but here&#8217;s a fact that will blow your modern mind: more than 1.5 million people were using <a href="http://gizmodo.com/5661414/this-is-what-a-mobile-phone-looked-like-in-1964and-there-were-over-a-million-of-them">mobile phones in 1964</a>. Sure, they weren&#8217;t the streamlined mini versions we enjoy today. They weren&#8217;t even as small or as portable as those awful bag phones of the 80s. But they were mobile, and they worked.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-17035" title="1960s radio phones" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/1960s-radio-phones.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="289" /></p>
<p>There were no cellular networks back then, of course &#8211; these monsters used radio bandwidth. The car-mounted stone-age phones were so energy intensive that the headlights of the cars they were in dimmed visibly when the phones were in use. They reached an impressive amount of users considering their high price, hefty weight and somewhat unreliable technology. But then again, so did the first handheld cell phones of the following decade.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/beautiful-history-massive-radio-wave-carphones-of-the-60s/">Beautiful History: Massive Radio Wave Carphones of the 60s</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>
