<p>Like something straight out of Iron Man, this new heads-up display (HUD) from the United States Navy turns diving helmets into dynamic screens.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30554" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/davd-digital-display-468x311.jpg" alt="davd digital display" width="468" height="311" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/davd-digital-display-468x311.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/davd-digital-display-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/davd-digital-display.jpg 1400w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The Divers Augmented Reality Display, or DAVD for short, is still in a prototyping phase but is designed to provide real-time data for underwater missions, supplemented with sonar and photography as well as briefs and texts to keep divers current while exploring the depths.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30553" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/hud-demo-468x408.jpg" alt="hud demo" width="468" height="408" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/hud-demo-468x408.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/hud-demo.jpg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>A pair of transparent displays together form a stereoscopic augmented heads-up display, simulating depth for divers in low-visibility scenarios.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30552" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/hud-realtim-468x319.jpg" alt="hud realtim" width="468" height="319" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/hud-realtim-468x319.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/hud-realtim.jpg 1000w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Live maps can be overlaid on murky scenes, allowing the diver to see regardless of conditions on the ground (or in the water, as it were).</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/us-navy-develops-augmented-reality-display-for-divers/">US Navy Develops Augmented Reality Display for Divers</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Cybernetics doesn&#8217;t have to mean high-tech or complex, as this handy LED display that slaps right onto your hand or arm demonstrates with easy, helped by stretchy circuitry.</p>

<p>A team of researchers from the University of Tokyo have developed an ultra-thin and ultra-flexible film which works as a lightweight display, effectively creating an electronic skin. It has obvious potential applications for fun but also for monitoring vitals right on a patient or athlete.</p>
<p>The leap here is going from millimeters to micrometers in thickness, making for something flexible, easy to wear and ultimately see-through as well as stable in the air. Using alternating layers of organic and inorganic material, the researchers were able to create transparent electrodes while preventing water and oxygen interfering with the behavior of the device. The result is able to crumple and bend without damage.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30319" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/flexible-electronic-skin-468x281.png" alt="flexible electronic skin" width="468" height="281" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/flexible-electronic-skin-468x281.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/flexible-electronic-skin.png 800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>“The advent of mobile phones has changed the way we communicate,” said professo Takao Someya of the University of Tokyo. “While these communication tools are getting smaller and smaller, they are still discrete devices that we have to carry with us.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;What would the world be like if we had displays that could adhere to our bodies and even show our emotions or level of stress or unease? In addition to not having to carry a device with us at all times, they might enhance the way we interact with those around us or add a whole new dimension to how we communicate.&#8221;</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/palm-pilot-transparent-digital-display-on-electronic-skin/">Palm Pilot: Transparent Digital Display on ‘Electronic Skin’</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>An ingenious application of 3D printing, this digital-looking sundial shows the time just like an electronic clock would, but using just sunlight and shadow &#8211; entirely analog with no batteries required.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30143" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/3d-clock-gnomon-sundail-468x329.jpg" alt="3d clock gnomon sundail" width="468" height="329" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/3d-clock-gnomon-sundail-468x329.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/3d-clock-gnomon-sundail.jpg 1000w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>

<p>A system of tiny holes in the gnomon let in small amounts of light in just the right way so that the readout changes over time but always looks just like the face of a digital alarm clock.</p>

<p>Of course, showing every minute would be physically unfeasible, so it shifts only once per twenty minutes. Also, it is limited by daylight, so it can only function between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. All things considered, it&#8217;s still an amazing work of clever 3D printery.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/digital-sundial-3d-printed-timepiece-needs-no-batteries/">Digital Sundial: 3D-Printed Timepiece Needs No Batteries</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29811" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/thinledflex-468x262.gif" alt="thinledflex" width="468" height="262" /></p>
<p>Watch as LG reps curve and bend screens ranging from tiny to huge, sticking TVs to walls with magnets and contorting mobile displays well past what one expects to be their breaking point. The screens use thin-film transistor back planes to individually activate pixels on the screen, adding virtually no thickness to the construction.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29812" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/thinled-468x263.gif" alt="thinled" width="468" height="263" /></p>
<p>Next time you go to a friend&#8217;s house to watch a game, consider this: you may soon be able to roll up your big-screen television (or monitor), bring it along and attach it to their wall. The company is also developing batteries that bend &#8211; combining the technology could prove incredibly powerful for wearables and other portable devices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29813" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/curved-led-panel-468x447.jpg" alt="curved led panel" width="468" height="447" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/curved-led-panel-468x447.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/curved-led-panel.jpg 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>LG also hit the news recently with their release of the world&#8217;s largest OLED panel screen (shown above), on display at the airport in Seoul, South Korea &#8211; the total display is made up of 140 curved pans, spanning 40 feet high and 25 feet across. According to Park Wan-su, president and CEO at Incheon International Airport, “These OLED displays perfectly complement the advanced technology that our airport has become known for. We are always eager to showcase to the millions of travelers every year the cutting-edge technology that originates from Korea. OLED is a prime example of that.”</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/bendable-screens-flexible-paper-thin-phone-tv-displays/">Bendable Screens: Flexible Paper-Thin Phone & TV Displays</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Turn each dial to cycle through 464 possible colors across a wall of bright lights, a magnet of introverts, conversation piece for extroverts and all-around insurance that there will always be something to do at the party.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29185" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/light-bright-animation-468x264.gif" alt="light bright animation" width="468" height="264" /></p>
<iframe type='text/html' src='http://player.vimeo.com/video/134030054' height='350' width='468' allowfullscreen=' frameborder='0'></iframe>
<p><a href="http://www.hero-design.com/everbright/" target="_blank">Everbright</a> comes with default animations to keep things interesting, a push-button reset for any time you want to start from scratch, and a smoother interface than its historic cousin, the Lite-Brite (a plug-and-play toy with a tendency toward piece loss).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29182" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-bright-468x263.png" alt="wall interactive bright" width="468" height="263" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-bright-468x263.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-bright-1024x576.png 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-bright.png 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29181" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-design-468x263.png" alt="wall interactive design" width="468" height="263" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-design-468x263.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-design-1024x576.png 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-interactive-design.png 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Based in San Francisco, the Hero Design team is selling these to the public, but targeting them to places where some added interaction would be helpful, like hotel lobbies, office waiting rooms and children&#8217;s museums.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29183" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-light-bright-468x263.png" alt="wall light bright" width="468" height="263" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-light-bright-468x263.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-light-bright-1024x576.png 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-light-bright.png 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29180" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-pattern-468x263.png" alt="wall pattern" width="468" height="263" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-pattern-468x263.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-pattern-1024x576.png 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wall-pattern.png 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Hard to verify their claims, but they even say this will make workplaces more productive: &#8220;Solve hard problems faster. Everbright refreshes hard-working brains. Unconscious minds are free to work through hard problems as hands tinker with this screen-free, device-free, interruption-free, tactile toy. It’s like a giant “refresh” button for the brain.&#8221;</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/everbright-giant-interactive-lite-brite-wall-for-adults/">Everbright: Giant Interactive Lite-Brite Wall for Adults</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>
