It’s the dream of every adolescent boy: climbing walls like Spider-man. One English youth decided to make that dream come true with little more than five months of spare time and a couple of cheap vacuum cleaners. 13-year-old Hibiki Kono used to dress up as Spider-Man when he was little, and his fondness for the web-slinging superhero never quite faded away.
The student decided to build his machine even though his mother and teachers weren’t exactly thrilled with the idea at first. With two £14.98 vacuums and two nozzle pads, the brilliant youngster was climbing walls in no time – just like his cartoon hero. Nervous mothers need not fret: Hibiki uses a safety pad on the ground beneath him to prevent accidents and he’s not allowed to climb nearly as high as he would like to.
