Cyclists are taking back the night with Lumigrids, an LED projector that attaches to the handlebars of your bike to expose potholes. It shines a square grid pattern onto the oncoming pavement while you ride your bicycle at night. Changes and irregularities to the grid indicate cracks and dips in the pavement.
It outshines the standard bicycle lamp in that the beam projected by the lamp casts shadows that potentially obscure hard-to-see obstacles. Lumigrids digs out every little crease and bend to both concave and convex objects.
There are multiple grid size settings, including one for faster cycling and a ‘team’ size grid. Power is provided either by pedal or battery. It’s most basic, yet important, trait is that it alerts pedestrians and motorists of a cyclist’s presence with its glow. Prepare to alter your bike to look like a light cycle.
