For everyone who said wristwatches were dead and that cell phones have taken their place, LA company WeWood has a watch that turns back the hands of technology. Inside it’s a precision machine, but on the outside it’s rich, beautiful wood.
The wood used in the watches all comes from pre-consumer flooring planks. The watches are free of toxic chemicals or any stains, making them safe to wear next to the skin. But despite what you may picture mentally when you see the words “natural wood wristwatch,” these are super-stylish and not nearly as bulky or clunky as you might expect.
The company says that their reason for using recycled wood rather than plastic or metal is that they want to help reconnect wearers with the planet. Natural materials combined with highly-functional Miyota movements give these timepieces a wonderfully backwards aesthetic which manages to look retro and modern at the same time.
