Certain types of technology seem to exist only to make us lazier. The augmented reality hat from Zappar works along with a free app to create virtual masks, thereby all but eliminating the need to go shopping for a new Halloween costume this year.
The Zaphat includes a small augmented reality target logo on its front. When you aim an iOS or Android device running the Zappar app at someone wearing the hat, the screen shows your buddy with an interactive mask overlaid on his face.
Mask options include a TV with changeable channels, a werewolf, a zombie, and a knight. All are interactive, performing different fun actions when you poke at them on the screen. No word yet on the release date, but we’re hoping it’s around in time for us to avoid putting on one of those smelly rubber masks on Halloween.
