Can anything make your heart sink faster than hearing a pathetic clicking when you try to start your car? Your battery’s dead again and, thanks to good old neighborhood unfriendliness, there’s no one around to give you a jump start. You don’t belong to an auto club, and none of your lazy friends will come give you a ride.

Self-described crazy engineer Medhi Sadaghar of ElectroBoom shows us a rather unusual way to start a car with a dead battery using things that the average engineer (and a lot of other people) will have just lying around the house. The video above gives an overview of using a series of AA batteries to give your car battery just enough juice for a single start.

After soldering together a few AAs with wire, Sadaghar connects the batteries to the car battery – but be sure to connect positive to positive and negative to negative or your batteries will start smoking just like his. The setup basically pours the batteries’ juice into the car battery. It gives it just enough energy to turn over the engine one time. Tada! You’ve now got a running car and you didn’t even have to talk to any scary strangers in the process.

The post Fire it Up!
We have a confession: we avoided watching this video for a couple of months. It seemed pointless, like there was no possible way that cutting a huge rubber band ball in half with a hand saw could possibly be interesting. We, dear readers, were totally wrong. This is the most awesome thing we almost never saw.

YouTuber Jordan says that he and his dad built the big ball of rubber bands over the course of about a year. They picked up bags of elastic bands at the store regularly to add on to the bouncy project. After a while, they decided to cut it open to see what would happen.

In the video, which starts after about 10-15 minutes of sawing, Jordan and his father reached the wiggly, creepy center of the ball. Luckily for lovers of weird stuff they recorded it so we could all see how bizarre the ball acted. It came to life – the center lurched out like a chestburster and various little jiggly rubber band pieces flailed about. And just like that, hundreds of thousands of people started their own rubber band balls and got their hand saws ready.

The post Giant Rubber Band Ball Becomes Wiggly Monster When Cut first appeared on Gajitz.

An ordinary Rubik’s cube is hard enough to solve, but when you start changing up the appearance of the pieces it can get downright devious. This keyboard Rubik’s cube was invented by Miguel Alonso and works much like the standard cube, but with keyboard keys replacing the colored tiles.

The cube is solved when each side is configured like part of a standard keyboard. According to the creator, all that you need to make your own keyboard Rubik’s cube is an old keyboard, a standard Rubik’s cube and some glue. And, of course, the desire to make the classic puzzle even more difficult.

The post The Key to Solving a Classic Puzzle: DIY Keyboard Rubik’s Cube first appeared on Gajitz.

YouTube member Morishowta is quite possibly a genius. His wrist-mounted iPhone holder is one of the coolest DIY projects ever, with echoes of the concealed blade in Assassin’s Creed. The holder lets Morishowta extend his arm to have his phone slide from his sleeve right into his hand. It’s a brilliant idea for someone who needs quick access to their iPhone without digging around in a pocket…plus it looks crazy-cool.

The project itself is awesome enough, but what makes it really newsworthy is Morishowta’s hilarious videos. The video above shows the inventor’s trial and error process including a lot of deadpan slapstick humor as he draws his phone over and over.

Another video from this insanely funny guy shows his attempts to build a similar holster for his iPad and a cell phone-covered shirt. Then a lot of bizarre but hilarious things happen – we really have no idea what’s going on, but we know funny when we see it.

The post Genius Inventor Creates a Quick Draw Hidden iPhone Holster first appeared on Gajitz.
