<p>If you are planning a trip to the final frontier, be sure to pack well and always carry your own Star Trek shuttlecraft tent.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30577" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/star-trek-shuttle-pack-468x203.jpg" alt="star trek shuttle pack" width="468" height="203" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/star-trek-shuttle-pack-468x203.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/star-trek-shuttle-pack.jpg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>This Federation-inspired shuttle sleeper, designed by Dave Delisle, features side thrusters that conveniently allow you to pack up your pop-up pod and carry it anywhere. Perfect for away missions and stowing on larger aircraft. Space (or forest or park) exploration aside, this would be a great kids playroom or backyard tent for domestic overnights and sleepover parties.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30578" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/star-trek-tent-468x287.jpg" alt="star trek tent" width="468" height="287" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/star-trek-tent-468x287.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/star-trek-tent.jpg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The shuttle-as-sleeper also works well with the elements from the series/movies, affording one windows just where they would be in space, and a frame that wraps in a natural way around the hull. Alas, for now this is merely a conceptual design, so unless the powers that be in the Star Trek cinematic universe adopt or back the project, it may not arrive until stardate -298550.2563689031.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/star-trek-shuttle-tent-camp-where-no-one-has-camped-before/">Star Trek Shuttle Tent: Camp Where No One Has Camped Before</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Folding up for ease of transport, this portable micro-camper looks like a great way to trave by bikel while still sleeping comfortably, but can it deliver what it promises?</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-27442" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/mobile-bike-camper-picture-468x262.jpg" alt="mobile bike camper picture" width="468" height="262" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/mobile-bike-camper-picture-468x262.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/mobile-bike-camper-picture.jpg 650w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>The designers of the <a href="http://www.widepathcamper.com/concept.html">Wide Path Camper</a> boast its array of appealing features, including fast an easy folding, lots of storage space, a seating area that converts for sleeping, a long life and low maintenance.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-27440" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-being-towed-468x262.jpg" alt="bike camper being towed" width="468" height="262" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-being-towed-468x262.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-being-towed-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-being-towed.jpg 1100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>However, the shell is 88 pounds without anything loaded into it and also sits quite high, raising questions about both its weight for pulling by bike as well as its center of gravity for tipping.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-27441" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-to-go-468x262.jpg" alt="bike camper to go" width="468" height="262" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-to-go-468x262.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-to-go-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/bike-camper-to-go.jpg 1100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>One has to wonder if, for instance, it might be better to break the design down into two parts to more easily split the load between two people, since either your companion will have to pack separately (leaving the boasted storage space empty) or one person will end up hauling everything.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-27439" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/wide-path-camper-urban-468x262.jpg" alt="wide path camper urban" width="468" height="262" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/wide-path-camper-urban-468x262.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/wide-path-camper-urban-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/wide-path-camper-urban.jpg 1100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Over long distances (particularly if hills are involved) the whole thing could be quite challenging to take with you. Alternatively, perhaps the included solar cells could somehow provide power for the camper (which would presumably need tail lights anyway) and help ease the journey. That, or maybe in the end this isn&#8217;t built for bikes but for electric vehicles like scooters or motorcycles of some kind. Alternatively, at the other extreme, the best way to use it may just be for urban camping with people towing it while walking to their desired destination.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/mobile-micro-cabin-bicycle-towed-camper-built-to-sleep-2/">Mobile Micro-Cabin: Bicycle-Towed Camper Built to Sleep 2</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-27143" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/boat-plane-tent-convertible-vehicle.jpg" alt="boat plane tent convertible vehicle" width="468" height="186" /></p>
<p>Planning a remote fishing/camping trip involves coordinating travel, accommodations, and transportation between the camping and fishing sites &#8211; but the &#8220;world&#8217;s most versatile plane&#8221; is about to make it much simpler. As long as you can afford $189,000 and a pilot&#8217;s license, anyway.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-27136" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/flying-tent-boat.jpg" alt="flying tent boat" width="468" height="311" /></p>
<p>The MVP from <a href="http://www.mvp.aero/">MVP Aero</a> is an insane combination of a plane, boat, and tent. It&#8217;s classified as a Light Sport Airplane and can land on water, the ground, or snow depending on the gear that&#8217;s installed.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-27137" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/mvp-boat-plane-camper-convertible-vehicle.jpg" alt="mvp boat plane camper convertible vehicle" width="468" height="311" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-27138" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/mvp-convertible-boat-plane-camper.jpg" alt="mvp convertible boat plane camper" width="468" height="261" /></p>
<p>After you fly the plane to your destination, it can float on the water as your mobile fishing spot. The motor can propel it through the water just like a boat, and the whole canopy of the plane opens up. The instrument panel swivels up to lock in place away from the water and extra floor panels cover the former seating area to create a fishing deck complete with pedestal seat.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-27139" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/plane-camper-boat-convertible.jpg" alt="plane camper boat convertible" width="468" height="249" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-27140" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/retractable-instrument-panel.jpg" alt="retractable instrument panel" width="468" height="311" /></p>
<p>With the nose and instrument panel out of the way, you can spend all day on the water. If you need to dock, the wings swing back to make for a streamlined vessel that can pull right into a standard slip.</p>

<p>Once you&#8217;re ready to pack it in for the night, you can simply stay put and throw on the tent attachment. The tent uses the plane&#8217;s body for structure and gives you enough space for two adults to sleep comfortably. A hammock in the back can be used for daytime naps or for sleeping under the stars.</p>

<p>As seen in the video above, the MVP can be used in a huge variety of configurations, and it&#8217;s not only for fishing trips &#8211; photographers, researchers, and tourists could all get plenty of use out of it. It&#8217;s a crazily ambitious project, but MVP Aero expects to offer it commercially by 2019, so start saving up now.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/multi-tasking-seaplane-is-a-fishing-boat-sundeck-tent/">Multi-Tasking Seaplane is a Fishing Boat, Sundeck + Tent</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-23837" alt="grill 1" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/grill-1.jpg" width="468" height="345" /></p>
<p>When packing for an outdoor excursion, it&#8217;s difficult to find room for a cast iron grill. Even carrying a skillet can add unwanted pounds, not to mention that annoying thunk on your back as you walk. A new concept in campfire cookery by an Israeli design student helps you shed some backpack weight.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-23835" alt="grill 3" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/grill-3.jpg" width="468" height="468" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/grill-3.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/grill-3-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Roee Magdassi created <a href="http://www.magdassi.com/#!stakes/c147h">Stakes</a> as a student at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. It&#8217;s an ultra-portable roll-up grill that uses braided wire instead solid metal. When constructed, it forms a 13&#8243; x 10&#8243; triangle that attaches to titanium stakes. And the best part of the setup is that there are no tools required; the stakes are simply hammered into place with a rock. When packed away, it weighs barely more than a pound.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-23836" alt="grill 2" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/grill-2.jpg" width="468" height="330" /></p>
<p>Magdassi formulated the idea from his experience in the military, where one is expected to carry a heavy load for long periods of time. “During my military service I experienced walking long trails while carrying heavy loads,” he told <a href="http://www.wired.com/design/2014/01/israeli-soldier-develops-grill-for-recon-missions/#slideid-386281">Wired</a>. “Therefore, I understood the importance of designing light weight equipment.” You can now add camping enjoyment to the long list the military gives back to the world.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/military-conscription-helps-with-portable-grill-concept/">Military Conscription Helps With Portable Grill Concept</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tent-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-23542" alt="tent 1" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tent-1.jpg" width="468" height="312" /></a></p>
<p>Outdoor leisure activities often go very well together. Cycling, fishing and especially camping are activities that greatly benefit from the plastic roof of a tent, a camping staple that&#8217;s not easily portable. One team of designers took notice of this and have a <a href="http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/01/07/something-cool-hiding-in-this-tire/">creative way</a> to transport your vinyl sleeping place.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tent-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-23540" alt="tent 2" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tent-2.jpg" width="468" height="381" /></a></p>
<p>The cleverly-titled Travel Tent fits in your bicycle&#8217;s wheel well. It is attached to the wheel seamlessly to simplify access and setup. It frees up space and takes a load off the cyclist&#8217;s back.</p>
<p><a href="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tent-3.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-23541" alt="tent 3" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tent-3.jpg" width="468" height="415" /></a></p>
<p>The pressing question about the Travel Tent is that of balance. It seems that putting any object that weighs more than a pound or two in the well of a bicycle wheel would greatly throw off the rider&#8217;s ability to efficiently pedal. The contents could shift or the circle could easily catch a strong side-wind. But it is, as a concept, provocative.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/pack-your-shelter-wheel-y-easily-with-this-tire-mounted-tent/">Pack Shelter Wheel-y Easily With This Tire-Mounted Tent</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>
