<p>The smart toothbrush trend that started with sonic brushes is being taken to the next level with upcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2016/06/04/prophix-smart-toothbrush-hands-on/">Prophix</a> video toothbrushes letting you see inside your own mouth, live on your phone while you brush.</p>
<!--YouTube Error: bad URL entered-->
<p>A small HD camera records high-definition videos and pictures of your mouth, probably giving you a closer look than you ever thought you wanted of everything you&#8217;re doing right <em>and </em>wrong in your daily routines.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30520" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/profix-parts-468x284.png" alt="profix parts" width="468" height="284" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/profix-parts-468x284.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/profix-parts.png 1011w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>A series of interchangeable attachments including a picking tip and tiny mirror are aimed at helping you get things cleaner once you see more closely what&#8217;s wrong. Having a camera also helps you keep track of changes (hopefully improvements) over time in terms of areas brushed.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30521" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/smart-brush-video-design-468x269.jpg" alt="smart brush video design" width="468" height="269" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/smart-brush-video-design-468x269.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/smart-brush-video-design-1024x589.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/smart-brush-video-design.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-30519" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/profix-app-468x312.jpg" alt="profix app" width="468" height="312" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/profix-app-468x312.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/profix-app.jpg 1000w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>At $400, this will be one of the most expensive electric toothbrushes on the market, seemingly more than the app or the camera additions should be worth (twice the price of a high-end Sonicare) but perhaps worth it for people with persistent oral hygiene issues.</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/oral-fixation-toothbrush-camera-joins-internet-of-things/">Oral Fixation: Toothbrush Camera Joins Internet of Things</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

<p>Getting directions while biking can be a hazardous endeavor, whether via earplugs that may distract from road noise or complex visuals you can&#8217;t take time to read, hence this ultra-simple bike compass design.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29614" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-compass-dot-468x410.jpg" alt="led compass dot" width="468" height="410" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-compass-dot-468x410.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-compass-dot.jpg 936w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Created by London startup Onomo, the <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/onomo/haize-a-compass-reinvented-navigation-for-urban-cy/updates">Haize</a> uses a simple system of colored and flashing lights on a circular glass surface wrapped in machined aluminum, all tied to a phone app in your pocket. The light rotates around the edge, adjusting to point in the direction the cyclist wishes to go, with red, blue and green flashes to indication direction in addition to distance.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29613" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-directional-468x424.jpg" alt="led directional" width="468" height="424" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-directional-468x424.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-directional.jpg 936w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>By focusing not on directions by <em>direction</em>, the biker is free to make choices about how to move through the city, and avoids sometimes-confusing app or map directions designed for cars or pedestrians. It can last up to two weeks on a single charge and is small enough to slip into a pocket when you lock up your ride to avoid theft.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-29615" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-simple-compass-468x334.jpg" alt="led simple compass" width="468" height="334" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-simple-compass-468x334.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-simple-compass-1024x731.jpg 1024w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/led-simple-compass.jpg 1568w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>&#8220;We set out to develop a navigation device for cyclists that is both simple, beautiful and intuitive to use,&#8221; commented Morras. &#8220;All of the Onomo team being active cyclists ourselves, this is really a passion project to solve a personal problem as much as solving a problem for all cyclist everywhere.”</p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/magical-compass-simple-led-points-the-way-for-cyclists/">Magical Compass: Simple LED Points the Way for Cyclists</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-28363" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-get-home-safe-468x303.jpg" alt="rudder get home safe" width="468" height="303" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-get-home-safe-468x303.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-get-home-safe.jpg 750w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Never walk through darkened alleyways or sidestep through unsafe side streets again with this clever new app that emphasizes lighting over shortest routes when walking you from Point A to Point B. <em>&#8220;Rudder makes it easy to travel wherever your nocturnal adventures take you by finding you the most well-lit path to your destination, be it your apartment, the library, or a nearby food hub. With Rudder, long walks down dark alleys and fake phone calls with your mom are a thing of the past.&#8221;</em></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-28361" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-safe-night-travle-468x393.png" alt="rudder safe night travle" width="468" height="393" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-safe-night-travle-468x393.png 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-safe-night-travle.png 640w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Currently in beta, <a href="http://walkrudder.com/">Rudder</a> uses API data and a built-in light meter (using the phone&#8217;s camera) to show users both the best-illuminated path to their destination as well as the amount of light that is actually shining along their route. Functional for those trying to stay safe, the app can also be used by those with impaired vision who want to stay somewhere they can see effectively. Eventually, the app may be expanded to include features that show others where you are, letting them make sure you are making it home safely.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-28362" src="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-app-dark-streets-468x312.jpg" alt="rudder app dark streets" width="468" height="312" srcset="https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-app-dark-streets-468x312.jpg 468w, https://gajitz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/rudder-app-dark-streets.jpg 749w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></p>
<p>Designer Hannah Dow started by looking at college campuses: <em>&#8220;Young students often have a hard time getting their bearings. They might be new to that city, and have to try to find their way between all these different buildings. We&#8217;re hoping that students will use our app not just to help them get to know their environments, but to make smarter decisions about where they are walking, especially at night.&#8221;</em></p><p>The post <a href="https://gajitz.com/night-light-walking-map-app-takes-you-along-lit-areas/">Night Light: Walking Map App Takes You Along Lit Areas</a> first appeared on <a href="https://gajitz.com">Gajitz</a>.</p>
