Smokin’ Sound: Wooden Cigar Boxes Upcycled into Speakers

If you’re a cigar smoker (or if you know one) you probably know the torture of trying to figure out what to do with all of those empty cigar boxes. They’re beautiful, they’re handy, they smell great – so it feels wrong to just throw them away, but they tend to pile up quickly if you don’t. Clever guy Neal Demazure put all of his empty cigar boxes to great use when he started making them into beautiful wooden speakers.

The cedar boxes are reinforced and refinished, then outfitted with internal amps and turned into desktop speakers that provide rich, robust, warm sound. Sold by Demazure’s Etsy shop Good Deed Audio, the upcycled cigar box speakers will run you $350 a pair. According to the creator of these gorgeous speakers, they are loud enough to fill a small to medium-sized room with rich sound.
