Have you ever felt sorry for frogs? Does it seem like maybe they deserve more than just hopping around, eating flies all day? Artist team Mi-Mi Moscow thought so, and they were inspired to “upgrade” frogs in a charming series of photographs.
Mi-Mi Moscow, composed of Mila Kalnitskaya and Micha Maslennikov, believes that frogs jump because they secretly dream of flying. To help them achieve that dream, they built tiny steampunk flying apparatus. From glider wings to itty bitty propellers to a frog-sized blimp, the artists gave these Earth-bound animals the once-in-a-lifetime chance to leave the ground behind.
One lucky model even got to try out an umbrella on wheels that protected him from the falling rain. All of the whimsical little gadgets worn by the frogs let them do things no frog has done before. The frogs, of course, weren’t hurt at all by their modifications. A couple of the lucky frogs even got to live with the artists after the project was completed; undoubtedly living with people who love them is almost as thrilling as their brief experiments with flight.
