If the iBook/iPad mashup was a little too modern for you, another crafty Apple fan came up with a slightly older-school iPad stand: a classic Macintosh computer. After disassembling the retro machine, the modder gutted the case and made a slot for inserting the iPad through the side and into the space that the original monitor used to occupy.
Unfortunately, the project – while it looks completely rad – doesn’t allow the user access to the “Home” button on the iPad. It’s not a problem if you don’t mind sliding it in and out of the case whenever you need to exit an application, but future modders might want to address that issue with a custom-cut hole or other solution.
Projects like this are enough to make any geek smile. One has to wonder if it’s coincidence that vastly different generations of Apple products meld together so well, or if Apple had the foresight to use roughly compatible dimensions just so adventurous souls could one day smash together their various iterations of cutting-edge technology.
