Of all of the wondrous capabilities iPads are rumored to have, this might be the only one we’re truly impressed by. Dentsu London and BERG collaborated to create this unbelievable video of an iPad painting with light. Using long-exposure photography and 3D “models” of cross-sectioned shapes, the group made animated words and pictures appear in thin air. Light graffiti is nothing new, but the technique used here certainly is. It’s all explained in the video below.
Because the iPads are dragged through space by hand, the finished product is a bit jumpy and imperfect, which makes the animations completely charming. They’re full of personality, which we love, but they’re also so technically brilliant that we have to applaud the minds that came up with such a tremendously cool idea.
